About our tours
What accreditation does Yippee have?
Yippee Malta is a licensed Gozo Tour Operator offering Tuk-Tuk, Jeep (UTV), Quad Bike; Buggy and boat cruises of Gozo and Comino. Our multi-award-winning company is now Gozo’s #1 tour provider. In 2024 we won: Malta Day Tour Operator of the Year (iGap Travel Guide), The Travel and Hospitality Awards Unique Experience of the Year – and Tripadvisor promoted us into their Top 10 List of things to do worldwide, because of our highly reviewed tours.
What types of vehicles do you offer?
- Tuk Tuks: Yippee is Malta’s only tour operator offering tours on Tuk Tuks. These colourful, comfortable vehicles seat 6 forward-facing passengers and offer a step for easy access and wide-open panoramic views. Our Tuk-Tuks are driven by experienced multilingual drivers who are passionate about Gozo life, history, landmarks and local customs.
- Jeep UTVs: Brand new for 2025, our state-of-the-art Jeeps offer an adventurous 4x4 adventure for small groups (5 passengers). Driven by our skilled tour leader you will venture across exciting coastal and country trails discovering Gozo’s most scenic sites and ‘must-do’ attractions.
- Self-Drive Quad Bikes (ATV): Our Quad Bikes are modern, high-powered (570cc) fully automatic, easy to handle and designed for fun. Our adventurous (self-drive) tours travel on customized routes through different types of landscapes. One Quad Bike seats two people: (1 driver + 1 passenger). They are ideal for Gozo’s rugged terrain.
- Self-Drive Buggies: Also new for 2025, our fully automatic self-drive Buggies have 2 seats (1 driver + 1 passenger) for on and off-road fun, exploring the best highlights our small island has to offer! Buggies have a fitted roll-cage, and seat belts, and are popular with thrill-seeking families.
What is the Gozitan light lunch provided on tour?
Our Gozitan light lunch/dinner lets our customers sample authentic Maltese tastes and flavours, with a light 3-course meal, made from authentic Maltese ingredients. Feedback from guests on our self-drive Quad and Buggy Tours was for more time out on the road. So, to allow for this, Buggy and Quad clients have a light picnic meal & a bottle of water at one of our scenic stops.
We would like a tour in a particular language
Our team of highly skilled drivers can converse in many languages (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Polish, Arabic, Maltese). Please submit your chosen language when booking. All Yippee drivers are passionate about Gozo, and enjoy sharing insights about local life, landmarks, customs and traditions.
On Self-Drive Buggy and Quad Tours our leaders are highly skilled in navigating our diverse terrain, and managing our convoy of clients. Quad and Buggy Tours are available in English and French.
What is Yippee’s cancellation policy?
You can cancel your booking and receive a full refund IF you notify us 24hrs before your tour pick up time. Cancellations after this 24-hour timespan will result in forfeiting your deposit.
What's Yippee's bad weather policy?
Your safety is our priority. Should bad weather prevent your participation, we will offer to reschedule your tour, or give you the option to receive a full refund.
Bad weather or sea conditions may affect your transport to/from Gozo. Whenever our captains decide that weather conditions are too severe for our boats, customers will be diverted onto the larger Gozo Channel Ferry to make the crossing safely (with ferry tickets issued at no extra cost).
We are a group. Can we enjoy the Tuk Tuk or Jeep safari tour on one vehicle together?
Yippee will try to group separate friends’ bookings together, if advised beforehand. But sometimes this can be tricky, especially in peak season. We suggest choosing a Private tour instead, which is still very reasonably priced.
Can passengers drive a Tuk Tuk or Jeep?
No. Tuk Tuks and Jeeps can only be driven by Yippee's licensed and qualified chauffeurs.
What should I wear and bring along?
- For Tuk Tuk and Jeep tours: Comfortable walking, preferably closed shoes, a sunhat, sunglasses, sunblock, swimsuit and a towel in the summer. Wear a light jacket in winter. Bring a small bag/ backpack for any essentials. You must be dressed appropriately to enter churches, shoulders covered (some churches offer shawls).
- For Quad Bike and Buggy tours: Drivers should wear proper closed driving shoes (not flip flops). Drivers must present an original, valid FULL driver’s licence. Provisional licences are not accepted.
- Cash or Credit cards (requiring a 3% transaction charge to be added to the price) are accepted as payment methods to cover the outstanding balance.
- Yippee issues protective gear, helmets, hairnets, and rain covers. Bring a small handbag or rucksack for essentials, like sunglasses, swimwear, suncream and a small bottle of water. During summertime, you can enjoy a refreshing swim-stop. Consider bringing a camera or GoPro to take a few snaps/videos on your tour!
What happens in case of an accident on a self-drive Quad Bike or Buggy tour?
Your safety is our priority, and your lead driver is trained to help you avoid any accidents. When controlling our convoy from the front, Yippee Leaders are assessing traffic and road conditions. Clients drive in a convoy with a Yippee driver leading the way. In the unlikely event of an accident, our Quad Bikes and Buggies are insured. Firstly, our staff will make sure you are OK and manage any immediate situation. If an accident happens (and you are at fault) or, if the vehicle is damaged due to negligence, the driver must pay the full insurance claim fee, which amounts to four hundred and fifty (450) Euros.
Can I drive on a self-drive tour without a license, or if I have a provisional one?
The answer is no. Our Yippee self-drive tours drive on and off public roads and on our customized trails. Customers wanting to self-drive a Quad or Buggy must have a full, valid driver’s licence to drive on our public roads.
How easy is it to ride a Quad Bike or Buggy?
Our Quad Bikes and Buggies are fully automatic, easy to handle, with no gear changing. Yippee’s fleet of vehicles are modern, high-spec and regularly maintained, ideal for our island’s rugged terrain. If you want a thrilling offroad adventure but are unsure about driving a Quad Bike – we suggest a Buggy, as it offers the same adrenaline-fueled fun but with buckled-in security.
How safe are the Quad/Buggy tours and roads in Gozo?
Gozo is a smaller island than Malta, with quieter and more free-flowing roads.
Quad and Buggy customers venture on and off public roads and on our customised trails.
Our all-terrain vehicles can comfortably handle any of these conditions.
Guests are given a full safety briefing, with instructions on how to operate the Quad/Buggy, before setting off. You will drive in a convoy behind a skilled leader, and another Yippee driver closes from behind (when the convoy is larger than six vehicles). Our customers support each other as they trek across diverse landscapes.
Important note: if our Tour Leaders become aware of dangerous or risky behaviour, such as reckless driving, unsafe overtaking or intimidating driving that could impact other guests –this person’s tour will end, and no refund will be given.
I am under 21, but have a driver’s licence and drive in my own country, can you make an exception?
Sadly, this is not possible. Maltese Insurers set strict guidelines which apply throughout Malta. The minimum age for our self-drive Quad/Buggy drivers is 21.
Can children ride as passengers on a Buggy or Quad Tour?
Yes, if they are accompanied by a parent. Children from 5 years and upwards can ride as passengers. Buggies are a great solution for young families seeking fun-filled offroad pursuits but with the added security of being buckled up inside a vehicle.
Can I hire a Quad or Buggy and then go off on my own?
Yippee do not allow customers to rent out Quads and Buggies for unsupervised experiences. Our Buggy and Quad Tours are coordinated adventures, with lead drivers who are highly skilled at navigating Gozo’s diverse terrain.
Is there a maximum weight allowance for customers on Quad bikes?
Our modern and high-spec Quads are regularly maintained and possibly the sturdiest models in use in Gozo. We checked the manual, allowed weight for customer bags, and then set a total maximum weight capacity of 220kgs/485lbs for each Quad bike.
About transport to/from Gozo
Can I make my own way to Gozo?
Yes, you can. You will need to catch the main ferry (a 25 min. trip) at Cirkewwa (the communal ferry port in the North of Malta, or take the Gozo Highspeed ferry from Valletta (45 mins.). If you have prebooked your tour and are making your own way to the Gozo Channel Ferry terminal in Cirkewwa (Malta), you must board the ferry leaving Cirkewwa at 9:45 am. Be aware that the Departure Gate closes at 9:30 am. More info on all options here: How to get to Gozo from Malta.
At what time will I be picked up if I am staying in Malta?
Your pick-up time will be listed in the Malta Pick Up by Van voucher sent by Yippee. The exact timings depend on where your Malta accommodation is, and the type of tour you booked.
Yippee must be at your pick-up location five (5) minutes before the time given on your ticket. Below you can find the village pick-up times. In case of any difficulty, please contact Yippee on WhatsApp at +356 9967 0099/+356 9967 0100
Where is my pick-up point if I am staying in Malta?
Pick-up points are shown on your Yippee ticket, and on your booking confirmation. Please read the information issued from Yippee. Please double-check your travel itinerary well before your tour date.
Pick-up points are carefully planned and are from your hotel/accommodation, or a place nearby. Unfortunately, not all guests can be collected from outside their accommodation, as our transport supplier uses the most efficient routes, so our morning collections are quick and streamlined, for the ease and comfort of all passengers.
I am staying in Gozo. How do I get to Mgarr Harbour?
A complimentary pick-up and return are available to guests staying in Gozo. Please fill in your address in Gozo when booking. Kindly contact the booking office by WhatsApp at +356 9967 0099 to agree on a pickup time and confirm the location, or email info@yippeemalta.com.
What happens if I miss my pick-up?
We work with Malta’s largest transport provider, which runs our minibus pick-ups and runs on set schedules. It’s important that you familiarise yourself with your pick-up instructions, before the day of your trip. If you have any worries or issues, notify our team immediately.
However, IF you miss your pick-up and still want to attend the tour – all is not lost. Advise our team straight away (WhatsApp at +356 9967 0099/+356 9967 0100 or call +356 2156 0512) – and you then have 2 options:
· Make your own way to Marfa Quay, near Cirkewwa, Malta to meet our Yippee Boat, sailing daily from Marfa Quay at 09:30 am. Some customers get a Bolt Taxi directly to Marfa Quay.
· Or, make your own way to Gozo and meet our Yippee team at Mgarr harbour in Gozo, ready to begin your tour. You must arrive in Gozo by 10:30 am. Some Valletta-based guests take the fast-ferry service from Valletta, sailing directly to Gozo, which takes 30 mins and has a regular schedule in summer.
· If you are on a Sunset Tour, you must go directly to Marfa Quay, arriving by 2pm – as Yippee’s boat leaves for Comino at that time.
· Any extra travel needed (because a customer missed their pre-arranged transfer), must be paid for by the customer. Yippee cannot pay for additional costs if you missed the transfer arranged for you.
What if I am ill, or if one of my group is ill, and we cannot make the pre-booked tour?
It is really important that you notify us immediately when a person is ill and unlikely to make the tour. Message us via WhatsApp +356 9967 0099 or +356 9967 0100. Our team will liaise with you to find an effective solution. You have a 24-hour window, before your collection time to re-schedule your tour.
If you need to postpone, we will look at alternative dates, but be aware this can be tricky during peak season.
If we are not told beforehand, and our pre-booked transfers have empty seats, rescheduling will include a small fee. This fee is to compensate for what Yippee has already pre-paid, to cover our losses.
My Viator ticket shows a different pick-up address to Yippee’s, which is correct?
The only correct pick-up locations and timings are those issued directly by Yippee.
Our transport provider (the largest in Malta) has set collection points, which all tour companies must use. If we are unable to collect a customer from directly outside their hotel, their nearest pick-up point is usually just a short walk away. Read Yippee’s instructions always and please arrive 5 minutes before your scheduled collection time. The minivan will display a Yippee sign in the window.
How much cash will I need/ how easy is it to access cash in Gozo?
Gozo has a small number of ATMs, we suggest you bring cash to pay the remainder of any tour fee, or for buying additional extras. Some of the larger tourist attractions have gift shops. At Dwejra Bay there is an optional boat trip (approx. 6 euros per person) sailing through caves and out to the open sea, which is not included in the tour price. Also, if you are on a Tuk-Tuk tour and you choose to visit Ggantija Temples (an optional stop), the entry fee is not included. So, it is best to bring extra cash to cover all eventualities.
Additional requirements
I have food intolerances /dietary needs - can I still eat lunch?
Yippee offer a light, traditional Gozitan lunch on our Jeep and Tuk Tours, and a fun picnic on the run for our self-drive action tours. All meals are halal-friendly and vegetarian. Our caterers can provide an alternative meal for guests with special dietary needs or food intolerances. But you must give us sufficient notice, ideally when you book, or well before the day of your tour. Do not arrive at the restaurant expecting alternative meals to be available, IF you did not advise us beforehand, as you are likely to be disappointed.
I have special needs and would like to participate in a tour, which would you suggest?
This depends on what your needs are. Please get in touch with Yippee’s Booking Team, so we can determine the best type of tour for you, before making your booking.
For example, if you use a wheelchair, we may suggest one of our Jeep (UTV) Tours, as these larger Jeeps have comfortable wide seating and ample space to store a wheelchair at the back. But we may need to discuss other transfer solutions, to suit your situation more comfortably. So early and effective communication is essential, to make sure you get a ‘hassle-free’ fulfilling and enjoyable tour of Gozo.
Here are our contacts:| WhatsApp - +356 9967 0099 or +356 9967 0100 / email: info@yippeemalta.com.
What happens if I lose something on tour – how can I get my belongings back?
The good news is our locals are very honest, if you lose personal belongings they are usually handed in straight away. Customers sometimes leave behind phones, bags, wallets, sunglasses, etc. The first thing to do is call/message us – tell us what was lost and where (on a Quad, Tuk, the boat etc.). If we find it (in most cases we do), you can collect from our Yippee boat at Marfa Quay between 08:45 and 09:30 am in the morning. Or, if this is not possible, our transport provider can arrange delivery (but there will be a small additional fee which you must settle directly with them).
If time is against us and you are already leaving Malta – our team can arrange registered post options, the cost will need to be paid by you.
I am on a cruise liner coming into Valletta – what tour should I book?
From our experience, most large cruise liners arrive at Valletta Harbour at around 08:00 to 08:15 am, and guests usually need to be back on board by 16:00/16:30 pm. Please remember that Gozo is a different island from Malta, and so involves land and sea transfers.
Generally, when working with cruise clients, we arrange a customised and bespoke Private Tour, with speedy transfer solutions, a fun time exploring Gozo, and the assurance of arriving back in time. So, speak to our team, advise us of your timings, and let’s plan your Private Tour together!
I really want to go to Ggantija Temples, but this is an Optional Stop on the Tuk-Tuk and Jeep Tours, what does this mean?
Our itineraries list Ggantija Temples as an optional stop; this means our guests are given the option to visit there. You must tell your driver, first thing in the morning if you definitely want to visit Ggantija Temples. Your driver will then work out tour timings, and you may have to forfeit one other location, to allow for this. Please note the entry fee for Ggantija Temples is a separate cost, to be paid by the customer, and is not included in the tour price.
I am pregnant, what tour should I book?
We would not recommend our self-drive activity tours for women who are pregnant. If you want a chauffeured tour, we suggest you get in touch before booking. Our team can liaise with you directly and plan accordingly, to make sure that you have a safe, comfortable and enjoyable day.
